St. Dominic Savio School follows the curriculum guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The curriculum is designed to provide each student with an excellent, Catholic education. Our subjects include Religion, Language Arts (Reading, Phonics, English, Literature, Spelling, Handwriting, and Composition), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education/Health. Computer skills are integrated into the various subject areas.

In addition, students in grades 4th- 8th are able to participate in Elective Courses which are defined from year to year.

Inclusion Procedures

Through the mission of the Archdiocese, our schools strive to serve children with varied learning needs. All educators in Archdiocesan schools follow “Directions for the Inclusion Process in Catholic Schools: Support Team Education Plan Process (STEP) and Minor Adjustment Plan Process (MAP)”.

Parents or guardians who feel that their student may need a minor adjustment to enable him/her to participate in the general education curriculum of the school should consult the student’s teacher and principal to determine how best to meet the student’s needs. Parents or guardians may request the “Disability Discrimination Complaint Review Process” from the principal to address unresolved issues.

Annually, the Department of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles mandates standardized tests for all students. It is crucial that each child be present when any standardized test is given, as these tests yield valuable information, helpful both to teacher and parents for evaluating achievement and addressing the needs of each individual student.
